The Summer has just flown by! Happy days filled with swimming, chasing balls and eating sticks. There are certainly no shortage of beaches and swimming opportunities in Berlin!
I spent most of July and August cooling off in the Stoßensee and running around Pichelswerder Hundesauslaufgebeit. This is one of the best places for us water lovers, as not only do we have a great forest to run around in, we also have our own beach AND we can officially run off lead.
As soon as I jump out of the car, my first priority is to get to the beach! I dash through the forest towards the tip of the peninsula where hidden among the trees are some steps. I run down them as quickly as possible and just dive in. I certainly have a 6th sense when it comes to finding water.
Apologies but no time to hang around for photos – you will have to look for me instead 😀
Pichelswerder is a small peninsula in Spandau. It takes about an hour to walk the whole area, zig-zagging through the different paths and of course I need another hour to play in the lovely clear cool water. With this view of the Havel, you easily forget you are in a city.
At the weekend, it can get very busy and the boat traffic on the water can make swimming sometimes a bit choppy – but it just adds to the excitement.
When I am finished playing in the water, my human likes to go for a wander before heading back home. She says it gives me time to dry off, but I do not believe her ….
Cheers everyone!
