Every year I look forward to our holiday. This year we travelled to the Baltic coast & the island of Rügen. After a 3 hour drive north, we crossed the bridge onto the island and a few detours later, arrived at my new home for the week. As soon as I sprung out the car and could smell that fresh sea air, I knew I was somewhere special …
I was in Glowe, a small town located at the start of the Schaabe, a natural spit formed by the sea, that joins the Jasmund and Wittow peninsulas. On one side there is a 12km long beach and the Baltic sea and on the other side woods and lagoons. Summer had arrived, so the first thing I did was drag my humans to the beach! I even let them have a beer after – as a treat!

Our first adventure was to Putgarten, at the very top of the island, where we walked to Vitt and along the coast to Kap Arkona. Stunning views – but unfortunately no dog beach ! Swimming would have to wait.
The next day I explored Nationalpark Jasmund. This was more like it! The walk through the forest was beautiful and I met many 4-legged friends. Once we reached the Königsstühl National Park Centre, I led my humans along the coastline towards Vikroriasicht (Victoria view) so they could admire the view and the amazing chalk cliffs. Of course I got distracted with some wood on the way – much more interesting!
We wandered along the coast to the Kollicker Bach, a small stream running through the woods to the sea. Turning away from the coast, we followed the stream back towards the car. Still no chance to swim!
Another lovely place was Binz, just over 20km south of Glowe. Here I discovered a lovely clifftop walk which sneakily ended up on a dog beach. 😀
Foolishly, my humans dropped the lead so I could say hi to another 4 legged friend – yay a chance to dive into the sea at last! (Unfortunately no photo evidence – think my humans were too upset, as it was rather smelly!)

What a great start to my holiday! Time for some rest now and I will be back soon xxxx
